In response to the negative review by Debbie, I have been in hafan wen 2 times and I can genuinely say that is not a true reflection of the place at all.It provdes a hugely important service ,available for free. If some think they are better than that, they are perfectly able to go to the the priory. To say you don't know who you are in there with shows the kind of attitude that is definitely going to rub people up the wrong way. That shouldn't cause you to subject this facility to a poor and unjustified review.

Avoid Avoid Avoid. Unfortunately, the staff are so unaware and the residents are left unsupervised for most of the time, therefore drugs, mainly weed, are easily taken into the unit and used. The external grounds have stashes of paraphernalia including foil. It has also been a hostile environment, with scenes of aggression racism and bullying. Theiving is done at every opportunity, so you have to watch your back at all times. If you become a victim of any of these crimes, you are likely to also be targeted by the staff and dismissed from the Unit because as the staff will aim for the person who is the most upset. (obviosly the victim). The staff have been very friendly but have also shown that they can switch when you least expect it. Family members are not allowed visits and with all of this going on, they are left sat at home worried at all times. There are no updates or communication from Hafan Wen, so it can be a very stressful and unsettled time It is very sad, but this is my true experience of Hafan Wen. Only go there if you are very desperate and its a last resort. It's pot luck who you are in there with!

The ONLY way I can describe my stay in Hafan Wen Detox Clinic is - lifechanging. After being an inpatient here for 2 weeks I am no longer dependant on Alcohol and thanks to the staff that organised it, I will be continuing my rehabilitation at Penrhyn House in Bangor for 6 months. I now understand my destructive behaviours that led to my addiction and can recognise and deal with cravings and urges. Every member of staff has been unbelievable to help me to get to this stage, I am motivated and for the first time positive about my future all thanks to the nurses / volunteers at Hafan Wen. I am not exaggerating to say I owe my life to Hafan Wen as my addiction was only going to lead to one thing. I can walk out hold my head up high and proudly say I am sober and with continued help go forth with my recovery leading to the best possible life for me and my children. From the bottom of my heart thank you so much to all the staff they are truly incredible and if anyone is lucky enough to get the opportunity to stay if they are unfortunate enough to need to, then speaking from experience grab the opportunity with both hands as if you want it and engage with the program it will change your life.
